A very good time to visit Piedmont is the late autumn, November and December. The crowds at the Truffle Market in Alba, at the local&xnbsp;markets, in the restaurants and with the winegrowers have gone.
Then there is also the best white truffle and the peace has returned. In the Christmas season the cities are decorated beautifully and invite you to go “christmas shopping”. Also the Outlet Village “Mondovicino” shows up in its brightness.

Until the first narcissi and tulips flower in March, there are many different things to do, like taking a cultural trip into the surrounding cities, such as Alba (20 min.), Asti (30 min.) Turin (1 hr.) etc., which all figure much in history.

The Ligurian coast (a 1 hour drive) with deserted beaches, abandoned villages and the rushing sea, are somewhat romantic in winter. There are thermal baths and a health spa in the pretty small town of Aqui Terme, approx. 1 hour away.

Those who are sporty, can pack up his or her skis or snowboard and reach in one hour the skiing area “Mondolè ski” with the ski centres of Artesina, Prato Nevoso, Frabosa Soprana. http://www.neveitalia.it. To Limone Piemonte is it 75 km (1.5 hr.). For those who want to visit the olympia ski station of 2006 “Sestriere”, there is a 2 hour drive. http://www.skiinfo.it .

One enjoys the view of the Alps with the snow-covered summits, sits near the warm stove and enjoys a glass of wine, or spends a few cosy hours in the room of a wine-growing estate and tastes the great wines from the Barolo area.

Alternatively just enjoy a nice dinner at the Grillo Parlante or visit one of the many good restaurants in the area.

In March 2010 the ice skating world championships take place in Turin.http://www.torino2010.org.
